GI/Pancreas Cancer
The charge of this committee is to develop and characterize mouse models of gastrointestinal and pancreas cancers in order to understand the mechanisms that are perturbed in the development of these tumor types, and to discover better ways to prevent and treat GI and pancreas cancer. Collaboratively, we will develop strategies, resources and technologies that promote the establishment and use of such models.
Hematopoietic Cancer
This committee's focus in the development and use of mouse models of leukemias, lymphomas and other hematopoietic malignancies to study human cancers.
Lung Cancer
The goals of this committee is to foster the development of mouse models for the investigation of the progression and treatment of lung cancer.
Breast
This committee's focus is to foster the development and use of mouse models that will serve as surrogate systems to study human breast cancer.
CNS Cancer
This committee's charge is to develop mouse models of primary brain tumors and other tumors of the nervous system that simulate the pathogenesis and biology and/or genetics of corresponding human tumors.
Prostate Cancer
This committee's charge is to develop mouse models of prostate cancer that faithfully simulate the human disease: mouse models of prostate cancer that display the clinical features of androgen-dependent growth, metastasis to regional lymph nodes and bone, and progression to androgen-independent growth in response to treatment with anti-androgen drugs or castration.
Gynecological Cancer
This committee is facilitating the development and use of mouse models of various gynecological cancers.
Skin Cancer and Melanoma
The goal of the Skin Working Group is to update the MMHCC website, with regard to models and targeting vectors. The histopathology section needs to be reviewed and possibly expanded, with a goal of publishing it sometime in the near future. We plan to hold annual workshops on some aspect of skin cancer.
Public-Private Partnership
The goal of this committee is to promote interactions among industry, academia and government organizations.
