Zebrafish researchers make extensive use of the network of zebrafish research labs to acquire and exchange appropriate animals. The ZFIN database can be searched for specific genes and phenotypes and the associated literature. Lists of mutants, morphants, and transgenics and their sources are provided. Lab contact information is available to contact other community members.
ZIRC accepts submissions from the zebrafish research community and makes the models available to other researchers. Guidelines are provided for submitting or obtaining fish. Additional services and information including diagnostic pathology and health services are available.
Members of the zebrafish research community have established the Zebrafish Husbandry Association, and researchers may find useful guidance, support, and contacts to obtain zebrafish models among this community.
