Mouse - Skin - MC02-0453.pff
Image Name: MC02-0453.pff
Image Annotation: Malignant spindle cell neoplasm arising in a C3H mouse treated with solar simulated ultraviolet radiation. The smooth edge of the hyperplastic, atypical squamous epithelium is occasionally interrupted by spindled keratinocytes that appear to be invading into the adjacent stroma and have a similar cytologic appearance to the spindle cells that compose the tumor. The pathology panel felt that this malignant spindle cell tumor was likely to be a spindle cell variant of poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma. This pattern of origin from the overlying squamous epithelium is often seen in human and mouse spindle cell carcinomas. Marcus Bosenberg
