Image Annotation: Well differentiated squamous cell carcinoma arising in a squamous papilloma on the back of a Sencar mouse treated with a two-step chemical carcinogenesis protocol(DMBA/TPA treated). Three papillomatous lesions are present and all are hyperplastic, however, the lesion shown at higher magnification has a broadly invasive front with underlying desmoplasia. This pattern of invasion is very similar to that seen in human verrucous squamous cell carcinoma. Marcus Bosenberg
