Mouse - Skin - skin_016.tif
Image Name: skin_016.tif
Image Annotation: PIN and Phyllodes tumor. This slide includes anterior, dorsolateral and ventral prostate and the seminal vesicles of a mouse bearing the SV40 Tag gene promoted by probasin. The epithelia of all lobes have a diffuse and focal atypical hyperplasia making the lobes difficult to identify on the basis of the epithelial characteristics. A large proliferative, papillary lesion appears inside one of the seminal vesicles. This is a phylloides tumor, which is typical of the TRAMP model. Note the hyperplastic fibromuscular stroma of this and an adjacent gland. The papillary mass has a central, highly cellular fibrovascular stalk and is covered by epithelium composed of tall columnar cells with atypical, hyperchromatic nuclei. The other seminal vesicle is lined by papillary epithelium and filled with secretions. The coagulating gland epihelium has multiple foci of cells with atypical, hyperchromatic nuclei. The ventral prostate also has foci of atypical papillary hyperplasia.
