Image Annotation: Well differentiated squamous cell carcinoma arising in a squamous papilloma on the back of a Sencar mouse treated with a two-step chemical carcinogenesis protocol. Three papillomatous lesions are present and all are hyperplastic, however, the lesion shown at higher magnification in skin_149 and skin_151 has a broadly invasive front with underlying desmoplasia. This pattern of invasion is very similar to that seen in human verrucous squamous cell carcinoma.
