Image Annotation: This slide illustrates the coagulating gland of a male mouse engineered for knock out of the Nkx 3.1 and PTEN genes. While most of the gland is normal, foci of low grade and high grade tumor are present. One duct with atypical epithelium has a spindle cell tumor that is invading the surrounding fat. The tumor has many mitotic figures. The tumor has slit-like spaces that are lined by atypical cells. Most of the tumor has sheets of plump cells.
