Melanocytic neoplasms of uncertain malignant potential

This diagnosis is reserved for unusual melanocytic lesions that do not fall within other classes of melanocytic neoplasms and are not clearly benign or malignant. An example would be a small focus of amelanotic melanocytes at the base of a melanocytoma.
