Entire slide – more than ten focal lesions are seen. Most are irregularly shaped and not rounded on their borders. Epithelial hyperplasia, focal, alveolar. Alveolar lining cells are larger than normal and line alveoli in single cells. They have fairly uniform cell size, round to oval nuclei, and a moderate amount of eosinophilic cytoplasm. Mitotic figures are not seen. Well circumscribed solid adenoma in the center of the field. There is compression of adjacent normal lung parenchyma adjacent to the tumor. A solid adenoma composed of a uniform population of epithelial cells with round nuclei and a moderate amount of eosinophilic cytoplasm. The solid areas may represent collapse of alveolar areas containing tumor cells. No mitotic figures are seen and the tumor extends into the adjacent alveoli. Mixed adenoma a subpleural well circumscribed adenoma composed of solid (left side) and papillary areas (center). Solid area in left lower corner and papillary area in center and right side. Cells in both areas appear similar with papillary cells possessing more hyperchromatic nuclei.
