Toronto Researchers Deactivate a Gene that Controls Colon Cancer Stem Cells

Reported in Nature Medicine, researchers have silenced BMI-1, a gene known to regulate human colon cancer stem cells, in a mouse model, thereby impeding tumor growth.  The study provides support for the cancer stem cell hypothesis.
